Vanilla Sencha Tea


One of our all-time favourite green tea blends.  A stunningly simple blend has two key components: Green sencha tea from China and pieces of the vanilla pod from smallholder farmers in Tanzania.

The infusion creates a gentle but full-bodied drink that is mellow, smooth, and relaxing. The aromatic vanilla combined with the freshness of green tea fills the palate and lifts the spirit.

To get the perfect brew of green tea is simple, though often missed; getting the temperature and time just right. Many people find green tea too astringent because they are brewing their drink at 100˚c. Green tea is very delicate and needs cooler water. Green teas brewed at high temperatures turn bitter because polyphenols are released too fast, so brewing green tea at 80˚c brings out completely different flavours, yielding a sweeter and much smoother brew. 

A great tea for beginners, the vanilla rounds out the flavour profile creating a smooth, aromatic and refreshing drink.


  • 1 slightly heaped tsp per 250ml
  • Freshly boiled water, cooled to 80˚c (or add a bit of cold water to the bottom of your cup)
  • Brew for 2 mins
  • Serve clear or with honey
