White Needle – Aged White Tea (2020)

$105.00

A rare silver needle white tea from the boutique Lakyrsiew Estate in Meghalaya — carefully aged for five years to reveal remarkable depth and character.

Provenance & Story

Lakyrsiew is one of India’s most artisanal tea gardens, tucked away in the hills of Meghalaya. With its tiny production and uncompromising quality, Lakyrsiew has become known for crafting teas of incredible purity. Their Silver Needle white tea, made entirely from young downy buds, is among the rarest in India.

This particular lot, harvested in 2020, has been aged under controlled conditions for five years. Like aged white teas from Fujian, China, it has developed layer upon layer of complexity — proof that India’s terroir, too, produces whites that not only age gracefully but become treasures over time.

Tasting Notes

The liquor glows pale gold, with a nose of stone fruit and hay. On the palate, ripe peach and dried apricot emerge, lifted by nutty hazelnut undertones and a silky, smooth mouthfeel. The finish is soft yet lingering, leaving a gentle sweetness and a light, uplifting energy.

Brewing Guide

  • Water Temperature: 80–85 °C

  • Leaf-to-Water Ratio: 3–4 g per 250 ml

  • Infusion Time: 4–5 minutes (Western style), or multiple shorter steeps in a gaiwan

  • Tip: Aged white teas are forgiving — try re-steeping 2–3 times to explore evolving layers.

Why It Matters

This is not “old stock” — it is a living tea, one that has grown more precious with time. Just as in Fujian, where aged whites increase in rarity and price as they mature, each passing year adds depth and value to this Lakyrsiew Silver Needle. With only a handful of packs available, this is a tea for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
